Practical Shooting Pits
There are 10 shooting bays arranged in 3 pits.
These pits allow short range use of rifles, pistols, and shotguns in a free form target placement, move & shoot setting. This environment is perfect for practicing practical shooting sports such as IDPA, USPSA/IPSC, and SASS/Cowboy action shooting.
Target stands are provided. Support sticks and backer cardboard are generally available, but you might want to bring your own to make sure. Bring your own paper targets. You may also shoot steel targets manufactured as firearm targets, as well as frangible targets such as clay pigeons and animal crackers.
While membership in the Pistol Division is not required to use the pits, with a membership, you have access to three 6 target plate racks in Pit #2 and a chronograph.
For your information here are the rules in effect:
Note:
Because of the need for a safety orientation, a pass is required to use these pits. There are two levels of passes available. The first pass is restricted to the two baffled bays in Pit 2. This is a great place for the member that is new to action shooting and wants a safer environment to practice and develop skills such as drawing from a holster, shooting multiple targets, reloading during a string of fire and shooting while moving. The next level of pass is for the more experienced and competition minded shooter. This pass allows the holder to shoot in the unbaffled portion of Pit 2 as well as Pit 1 and Pit 3. You must pass a qualification test and attend an additional orientation to upgrade the pit pass. There will be a $10 fee for non-pistol division members to get a pit pass.
