Rifle Range Rules
THE FOLLOWING RULES AND REGULATIONS APPLY TO ALL SHOOTERS USING THE RIFLE RANGE.
Rules may be adjusted by Match Director during Supervised Events.
Safety of those on the range and down range is of the greatest importance.
1. Range is closed except when a BGSL approved Range Safety Officer is present. Range is open to Pink card holders only when a Range Officer is present at the Rifle range. Range is open to Advanced Rifle card holders any time that a Range Officer is staffed whether it be a fixed or roving position. Schedule will be posted on the BGSL website.
2. Members ONLY, who have completed qualification, may use the Rifle Range outside of the tubes. Guests may use the Rifle Range Tubes only when a Range Officer is posted on the Rifle Range.
3. Participants must sign in and show membership and qualification card before and during shooting. See Operations or website for instructions on how to obtain a card. Shooters must sign out and provide number and caliber of rounds fired when finished.
4. Any shooter whose behavior is, in the opinion of the Range Safety Officer, unsafe or disruptive will be asked to leave. This includes being under the influence of any substance, prescribed or not, and sweeping self or any other shooter.
5. The Range Safety Officer must enforce these rules as written. Complaints should be directed the Range Master or to the Board of Directors.
6. Do not point a loaded firearm at anything other than the target, ground, or berm. Up is NOT a safe direction with a loaded firearm.
7. Eye and Ear protection required for all people at the Range – shooters and observers.
8. All firearms coming to or leaving the range are to be unloaded with their action locked open, safety on, magazine/clip removed, and have an Empty Chamber Indicator (ECI) installed. If not in a case, carry muzzle up with ECI inserted.
9. When using a case to transport firearms to or from the range, the firearm must be cased and uncased on the line with the muzzle pointed down range only when range is hot.
10. Range shall not be declared safe until firearms have been made safe (unloaded with action locked open, Empty Chamber Indicator inserted, safety on, and magazine/clip removed) and ALL FIREARMS HAVE BEEN PLACED IN THE RACKS. Do not proceed down range if any firearms remain on the benches.
11. DO NOT TOUCH FIREARMS DURING CEASE FIRE. This includes packing up gear when leaving, as well as unpacking when arriving. Leave firearm cased until range is hot, or immediately set firearm in rack (with ECI inserted) when arriving. Move firearms from rack to bench/firing position only when the line is hot.
12. Ammunition, magazines, and other gear may be handled during cease fire.
13. No spectators near firing line when the range is hot.
14. NO RAPID FIRE. 2 seconds minimum between shots.
15. Never bench or leave a loaded firearm unattended even with the safety on.
16. Sandbags/rear rests must be used for benched firearms to prevent muzzle from pointing over the berm.
Activities
17. Any shooting position is acceptable provided a loaded firearm does not point over the berm. Up is NOT a safe direction with a loaded firearm.
18. Single projectile guns only on this range; includes muzzleloaders, shotguns firing slugs and scoped handguns (after completing distance handgun qualification).
19. Full metal jacket ammunition is allowed, but no tracers, incendiary ammo, or shot shells.
20. Do not move or change positions while firing.
21. Shooting position must match target placement location on 50 yard targets.
22. No fully automatic capable firearms allowed
23. Any caliber/cartridge up to (not including) 50 BMG is allowed.
24. Only paper targets attached to the backboards are to be used.
25. No cross firing. Shoot at the targets directly in front of your bench.
26. All brass and debris to be picked up by the shooter. Do not reach in front of the firing line until the range is cold.
GP 50/100 Range Rules
50 & 100yd General Purpose RANGE.

2. Members and guests with a guest pass may use this range.
3. Participants must sign in and show membership card before and during shooting. See Operations or website for instructions on how to obtain a card. Shooters must sign out and provide number and caliber of rounds fired when finished.
4. Any shooter whose behavior is, in the opinion of the Range Safety Officer, unsafe or disruptive will be asked to leave. This includes being under the influence of any substance, prescribed or not, and sweeping self or any other shooter Please report safety and rules violations to RSO on duty immediately.
5. The Range Safety Officer must enforce these rules as written. Complaints should be directed to the Range Master or to the Board of Directors.

16. Only Bench and Standing shooting positions are acceptable. Loaded firearms may not point over the berm. Up is NOT a safe direction with a loaded firearm.
17. Do not draw a firearm from a holster. Do not holster a charged or uncharged firearm – use the rack during cease fire.
18. Do not move or change position while shooting.
19. 50yd range available to single projectile handguns (firing straight walled pistol type cartridges – exceptions include 357 Sig, 38-40, 5.7mm, 7.62X25), and all rimfire rifles (no centerfire rifles on 50 yard range).
20. 100yd range available to all single projectile firearms; including centerfire rifles, all pistols, all rimfire, muzzleloaders, and shotguns firing slugs. Any caliber/cartridge up to (not including) 50 BMG is allowed.
21. Full metal jacket ammunition is allowed, but no tracers, incendiary ammo, or shot shells.
22. Only paper targets attached to the backboards are to be used.
23. Do not post targets on baffles or supporting structure. Intentionally shooting the baffles, support structure, or target frames may cause you to lose your BGSL membership.
24. No cross firing. Shoot at the targets directly in front of your bench. All brass and debris are to be picked up by the shooter.
Do no reach in front of the firing line until the range is cold.
GP Handgun Range Rules

Single projectile handguns firing pistol type ammunition only on this range (straight walled pistol cartridges only – exceptions include 357 Sig, 38-40, 5.7mm, 7.62×25). No long guns of any kind, no shotguns (or pistol caliber shot shells).

Full metal jacket ammunition is allowed, but no tracers, incendiary ammo, or shotshells.

No fully automatic capable firearms allowed.
