The Casting Division oversees this facility that features plug and fly courses. No hooks allowed, only casting plugs and flies. No swimming or dog training (they know the dogs can’t read the sign!). You can train your dog in the Old Fishing Lake.
Seasonal; targets set up in March and removed in October.

One of the few non-shooting sports at the Blue Grass Sportsmen’s League, the Casting Division represents competitive angling sports. The bait and fly casting pools, located next to the Clubhouse, are some of the best in the country. Targets are in the water and available for practice from April 1 to October 1 each year.
The Blue Grass Sportmen’s League Casting Division contains past and present national champions, as well as past and present international champions and competitors. There’s something for everyone: distance events, accuracy fly casting and accuracy bait casting. There are also many competitive categories from youth to seniors.
As hosts of the annual Kentucky Open tournament each year in May, our division boasts of great fun, great competition and great food. Clubs across the country travel to our facilities to compete for the coveted BGSL Minnow Bucket – the team event trophy. This trophy is engraved with each year’s winning team – more often than not you can view it in the BGSL clubhouse.
Come out and join us in the spring – we’re usually out and about on Wednesday afternoons & evenings trying to get ready for the next competition. The BGSL Casting Division has been fortunate to host six (6) American Casting Association National Championships.
