High Standards
As sportsmen, we challenge ourselves to always improve, and so does the Blue Grass Sporstmen’s League. Among the nation’s finest clubs, BGSL is the largest of its kind in the state of Kentucky. Our General Purpose Range and each of the specialty facilities is designed for a safe, enhanced shooting experience. And, just minutes from Lexington in southern Jessamine County, BGSL is convenient for sportsmen through the Bluegrass.
Training
Sharing is port of the sports experience. We learn from observing and listening to other members. Additionally, BGSL offers classes in many disciplines as well as CCDW, Hunter Eduction and Youth Mentoring programs.
Competition
Whether you enjoy competitive shooting or prefer plinking, BGSL offers something for all gun lovers and outdoorsmen. Our ranges allow members to perfect their skills and improve at their own page. And, while there is always a lot of friendly competition on the ranges, there are organized matches schedule every week at many of our venues. From club-only events to nationally-sanctioned competitions, there are weekly opportunities to compete among some of the best shooters in this part of the country.
Outdoor Spaces & Hunting
Where else can you access 1,435 privately-owned acres to use at your leisure? For most of us, the need to be outside is part of who we are. We have developed more than 3 miles of hiking trails through woods and meadows. We also have a scenic overlook of the Kentucky River Palisades, internationally recognized as a natural wonder. Hikers, campers and fisherman can enjoy the birds, berries, trees and more than 300 wildlife species.
Deer, turkey, small game (rabbit and squirrel) hunting and upland bird hunts are permitted seasonally for qualified members and their guests. We have created a rich hunting landscape through careful property and wildlife management.

What drives many of us is the knowledge that at BGSL we are doing more than just participating in a sport. We are creating a lifestyle that is consistent with our core values. Like individual freedom, respect for mankind and nature, and taking personal responsibility. We practice and promote wildlife conservation, education and habitat restoration for both game and non-game species. We work with the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife to establish hunting and fishing programs and help develop Kentucky’s natural resources. All members can be enrolled, for an additional $6 fee, in the League of Kentucky Sportsmen, the largest conservation organization of is kind in the state.
Family time is also special at BGSL. That’s why all our members are family membership. The annual fish fry, game dinners, outdoor activities, gatherings, and monthly meetings are just some of our many family-friendly activities.
